Privacy for Free: Wireless Federated Learning via Uncoded Transmission With Adaptive Power Control

چکیده

Federated Learning (FL) refers to distributed protocols that avoid direct raw data exchange among the participating devices while training for a common learning task. This way, FL can potentially reduce information on local sets is leaked via communications. In order provide formal privacy guarantees, however, it generally necessary put in place additional masking mechanisms. When implemented wireless systems uncoded transmission, channel noise directly act as privacy-inducing mechanism. paper demonstrates that, long constraint level, measured differential (DP), below threshold decreases with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), transmission achieves “for free”, i.e., without affecting performance. More generally, this work studies adaptive power allocation (PA) gradient descent aim of minimizing optimality gap under and constraints. Both orthogonal multiple access (OMA) non-orthogonal (NOMA) “over-the-air-computing” are studied, solutions obtained closed form an offline optimization setting. Furthermore, heuristic online methods proposed leverage iterative one-step-ahead optimization. The importance dynamic PA potential benefits NOMA versus OMA demonstrated through extensive simulations.

Improving Wireless Access Control Schemes via Adaptive Power Regulation

Two challenging issues for future wireless communication systems are the support of Quality of Service (QoS) and the definition of flexible access schemes to be used in heterogeneous systems (public cellular systems, wireless local area and ad-hoc networks). This paper deals with the class of Radio Resource Control (RRC) based on power regulation, where typical PHY layers parameters (powers, in...

SCLD-ATP: Symmetric Coherent Link Degree, Adaptive Transmission Power Control for Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are by nature dynamic and communication between sensors nodes is ad hoc. Numerous protocols and applications proposed operate on the assumption that communication channels are stable. Topology Control Protocols are crucial in the operation of WSNs as they adjust transmission power in order to maintain link quality, minimize interference and provide spatial topolo...

Low Power Wireless Communication via Reinforcement Learning

This paper examines the application of reinforcement learning to a wireless communication problem. The problem requires that channel utility be maximized while simultaneously minimizing battery usage. We present a solution to this multi-criteria problem that is able to significantly reduce power consumption. The solution uses a variable discount factor to capture the effects of battery usage.

Interference-Aware Transmission Power Control for Wireless Sensor Networks

Maintaining the lowest possible transmission power in the wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is vulnerable to the interference fluctuations because of the bad signal-tointerference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR). The previous transmission power control (TPC) algorithms do not consider much for the interferences from other 2.4GHz devices, which can cause significant performance degradations in real world ...

Transmission power control techniques for wireless sensor networks

Communication is usually the most energy-consuming event in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). One way to significantly reduce energy consumption is applying transmission power control (TPC) techniques to dynamically adjust the transmission power. This article presents two new TPC techniques for WSNs. The experimental evaluation compares the performance of the TCP techniques with B-MAC, the stand...
